Coach Arouca led Hingham to a 7-6 win over Thanksgiving rival Scituate at Fenway Park in 2017.

The Marshfield High School football team will have a new face on the sideline when the 2018 season kicks off, but it will be a familiar name and face for those who know the history of Rams football.

New head coach Chris Arouca's first season as leader of the team will be his 17th season as part of the program (he spent 4 seasons as a player from 1994-1997, then 12 as an assistant coach from 2003-2014).

Arouca is the only person to have won multiple championship rings as both a player and coach. He was a starting guard on Marshfield's 1995 and 1996 Super Bowl champions, and he was the offensive coordinator for the team's 2009 and 2014 state champions.

In 2015, Arouca took over as head coach at Hingham High School, where he increased the team's win total each of the past three seasons. His 2017 squad finished 8-3 and advanced to the south sectional semi-finals. The final game Arouca coached for the Harbormen was an instant classic on Thanksgiving Eve at Fenway Park, where Hingham beat archrival Scituate, 7-6.

Arouca's return to Marshfield High School, where he has taught Social Studies since 2004, will get started against a tough, veteran-laden Whitman-Hanson team in week one of the 2018 season, followed by a clash with BC High in week two.
