The Marshfield Rams are Division 2 Massachusetts State Champions, thanks to a dominating 45-6 win over Longmeadow at Gillette Stadium.

Marshfield scored on 5 of their first 6 possessions and never punted in the game. The only points allowed by the Rams on the day were scored with just over a minute remaining, the outcome long decided and the starters long removed.

The offensive star was quarterback Jack Masterson, who did his damage on the ground instead of the air, rushing for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns. Masterson also converted two-point conversions 4 different times (2 running, 2 passing).

Matt Benson played stellar along the offensive line, dominating the Lancer defense all day with the help of line-mates Shane Leonard, Josh Ramos, Slater Haddad, Nick Russo, and Zach Stocking.

Jacob Maher was another offensive star, rushing for 69 yards and a pair of touchdowns in his final career game for the Rams.

Frank Catanoso finished a prolific postseason stretch with his 7th touchdown of the playoffs.

Danny Dalton led all receivers with 42 yards, including a phenomenal one-handed diving catch down the middle to keep a scoring drive alive.

Bob McCarthy closed out his career with another gem on the defensive side of the ball, racking up 15 total tackles.

But the defensive star of the game undoubtedly was Kyle Meeken, who reeled in one of the most amazing one-handed diving interceptions anyone has ever seen, and followed it up with a second interception later in the first half.

The win caps off arguably the greatest season in the history of a program that has many great seasons on its resume. After letting the opening game slip away in the final seconds against BC High, the Rams ripped off 12 straight wins to finish the season 12-1 as state champions. Go Rams!
