It wasn't exactly a thing of beauty, particularly in the first half, but the Rams managed to grind out a 28-6 win over Sandwich in the final game of the regular season, locking up the outright Atlantic Coast League championship in the process.

The teams nearly went into halftime scoreless until Jacob Maher finally managed to light up the scoreboard with just 1:39 to go in the second quarter, finishing a 5 play, 57-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown run. The score put the Rams up 6-0 at the half.

The Rams fared much better in the second half, scoring on their first two drives. Neal Parry got things rolling with a touchdown plunge from a yard out. Jack Masterson connected with Danny Dalton on a fade route for the two-point conversion to give Marshfield a 14-0 lead.

Masterson increased the lead on the following possession, scoring on an 8-yard TD run. Pat Kielty added the extra point to put the Rams up 21-0.

Jacob Maher closed out the Marshfield scoring with a 20-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Sean Burger led the defensive effort with 11 tackles, a tackle for loss, a sack, and a blocked kick. Danny Dalton made an impact as well with a sack and a tackle for loss among his 4 stops. Other top defenders included Fred Allen (9 tackles, TFL, FR) and Matt Benson (8 tackles).

The Rams will move on to face a tough playoff opening draw, as they will host the defending state champion Mansfield Hornets on Halloween night at 7:00. Go Rams!
