The Marshfield Rams picked up their second win of the season on Friday night with a 35-8 win over visiting Dennis-Yarmouth.

The Dolphins entered the game without two of their top players, as All-State-caliber star Michael Dunn was out injured, as was fellow versatile threat L.K. Metz. Nevertheless, the Rams were happy to get the win, no matter the circumstance, as it broke a 3-game losing streak at the hands of D-Y, marking the first win for Marshfield in the series since their 14-12 win over the Dolphins in 2010.

On an evening when neither offense was as sharp as they normally look, the star unit of the game was undoubtedly the Marshfield defense. The Rams caused 4 turnovers, including 3 interceptions (one each by Troy Rodrigues, Danny Dalton, and Adam McNamara), allowing the Marshfield offense to work on a short field for much of the evening. Bobby McCarthy led the team in tackles with 9 total stops, but Sean Burger was close behind with 8 tackles.

While Marshfield's rushing totals were somewhat modest (173 yards) and spread out amongst 10 different players, starting halfbacks Jacob Maher (50 yards) and Frank Catanoso (46 yards) checked in with the highest rushing numbers. Catanoso, Jack Masterson, and Neal Parry each scored a rushing touchdown for the Rams.

Masterson wasn't as efficient passing this week (41.2%) compared to last week's performance against Barnstable (73.7%), but he was effective in multiple key spots, compiling 111 yards through the air and completing 2 touchdown passes, as well as a pair of 2-point conversion throws.

Danny Dalton led all receivers with 51 yards on 5 catches, one of which he took into the end zone with a dive at the pylon. Mitch Bishop reeled in the other touchdown through the air, thanks to a 40-yard strike late in the game.

The Rams will be back in action next week, as they look to snap a 4-game losing streak against Bridgewater-Raynham, dating all the way back to Marshfield's last win over B-R in 2008. Kickoff is scheduled for 7p.m. at James G. Anderson Field. Go Rams!
