NAME: Lou Silva

POSITION: Former Head Coach

ATHLETIC BACKGROUND: Played defensive end and tight end at Durfee High School. Also played center on the basketball team. Earned all-star honors in both football and basketball. Threw discus and shot put for the track team; his discus record at Durfee High School still stands to this day. Went on to play football for Boston College (Class of 1972), where he started 3 seasons (1969-1971) at outside linebacker.

EXPERIENCE: Began coaching football in 1973 under legendary Marshfield coach Ron DiGravio. Took over as head coach for Marshfield in 1981, a position he held for 37 years. Coach Silva led the Rams to 242 wins and 5 Super Bowl championships.

PROFESSIONAL INFO: Retired from his career as an educator in Marshfield Public Schools, a career that began teaching math at Furnace Brook, then finished as the athletic director at Marshfield High School.
